🍒 6 tsp fresh cherries, de-stemmed, pitted, and sliced

Instructions:

Ingredients:
Cookies
🧈 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
🍚 1/2 cup granulated sugar
🍥 1/2 cup powdered sugar
🥚 1 egg, room temperature
🌿 1 tsp vanilla extract
🍊 Finely grated zest of 1 orange
🌾 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
🧁 1/2 tsp baking powder
🍒 1/4 cup dried cherries, chopped
Frosting
🧈 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
🍥 4 cups powdered sugar
🥛 2 tbsp milk
🌿 1 tsp vanilla extract
🍊 Finely grated zest of 1 orange
Instructions
1. Beat butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Mix in egg, vanilla, and orange zest.
2. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl. Add to the wet mixture, fold in chopped dried cherries, and mix until a dough forms.
3. Divide into two portions, roll each into a 6-inch log, wrap in plastic, and chill at least 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with parchment.
4. Slice dough into 1/4-inch rounds and place on the baking sheet.
5. Bake 12 to 14 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool fully.
6. Make frosting by beating butter, powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and orange zest. Frost each cookie.
7. Tie a ribbon around a cookie box and you’ve got the sweetest last-minute gift.
